Ceramic Studio Pass

To get a ceramics studio pass you must first become a museum member. Once you are a member you simply stop by the museum and purchase a pass for $50. The pass is good for one year and allows you access to the ceramics studio during regular museum hours when no ceramics class is in session.

Please Note: No one under the age of eighteen may be in the ceramics studio alone. Children and youth under eighteen must be enrolled in a ceramics class or accompanied by a parent or childcare provider in order to use the studio.

MUDWORKERS
The Ceramics Studio is open on Tuesday mornings for intermediate to advanced ceramics enthusiasts with a membership and studio pass. This is a great opportunity for potters to work and share ideas in a creative atmosphere.

DOCENT CLASS

Just what is a docent and what do they do? A docent is a trained volunteer educator who guides children or adults through a museum. The Latin word, "docere" from which docent is derived, means "to teach".

DOCENT TRAINING
The MacNider Museum has a lively and informed group of docents who enhance our mission of engaging diverse audiences in the enjoyment and understanding of the visual arts. We would like to invite YOU to consider joining them. A new docent training class will begin in September and meet weekly through early December. The class will explore ways to look at a work of art, the principles of art and elements of design, an overview of American art history and touring techniques.

Please call 641-421-3666 or e-mail Linda Willeke to let us know you are interested. The class will meet at a time convenient for all.

The MacNider Museum is always happy to welcome new members to the dedicated group of docents who currently give tours to school and community groups. Docenting is a great way to stimulate your mind, meet new people, give to the community, and just have a good time. Our current corps of docents are a lively and interesting group of men and women who do just that! An art background is not required, only a desire to learn about our collection of American art and an interest in sharing your knowledge with the public.

Call the Coordinator of Education, at 641-421-3666 for more information or e-mail Linda Willeke.

WANTED: TEACHERS!

Got a flair for teaching and want to share your knowledge with others? We are seeking additional qualified teachers who have bright ideas for new classes in the arts.

Call or email Linda Willeke, Coordinator of Education, at 641-421-3666.
