MacNider Arts Festival 2010

Aloha Art!

Enjoy a tropical experience right here in North Iowa.

Please join us the second Saturday in June (June 12, 2010) for the MacNider Arts Festival. Wonderful musical entertainment, family art activities, food, and more will take over the front lawns of the MacNider Art Museum and the Mason City Public Library!

Schedule of Events

9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Mayor and City Council’s Pancake Breakfast

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Art Market & Kids’ Activities open

9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Paul Christian performs

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

World Port performs

11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hungry Hut & Tiki Treat Bar open

1 p.m. & 3 p.m.

Story Time by the Mason City Public Library on the Beach Towels

1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Roger Foat performs

4 p.m. to  5 p.m.

Municipal Band performs

5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Nova Jazz performs


Limbo Contests will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m.;
1 to 1:30 p.m.; 3:30 to 4 p.m.; and 5 to 5:30 p.m.

Art Activities

Join us for FUN on the Library Lawn!

You can create:

  • Glittery Sand Castles

  • Fantastic Flip-Flops

  • Fish Print Tote Bags

  • Gecko Magnets

  • Shell Crowns

  • Beach Chums

  • Paper Plate Jellyfish

  • Dress Up Photos and Frames

You can even make your own Lei, decorate a paper surfboard, and color your own T – Shirt!

And if you want to get some Aloha Exercise you can swing a Hula Hoop or join the Limbo contest!

 

 Entertainment

Mason City Band

9 – 10:30 am – Paul Christian 

Singer/songwriter from Minneapolis.  Enjoy his mellow guitar sound while enjoying our free Pancake Breakfast

 

11 am – 1 pm – World Port

World Port is an Emmy winning band that performs their original worldview instrumental music. Their unique sound has a variety of cultural influences.

 

1:30 – 3:30 pm – Roger Foat

You are really going to enjoy the funky folk sounds of this local musician. 

 

4 5 pm – Mason City Municipal Band

 Always a wonderful performance, the Mason City Municipal Band is going to keep the MacNider Arts Festival lively with a fun and upbeat concert.

 

5:30 – 7:45 – NovaJazz

NovaJazz is comprised of six talented musicians laying down traditional jazz favorites in their own unique style.  They will cap off a wonderful day of music with a superb evening concert.

Hot Dog Basket, Hamburger Basket, Chicken Breast Basket, Chicken Kabob Basket, Taco Burger Basket Vegetarian Burger Basket (Made to order, requires waiting), Walking Tacos

 

Baskets include choice of chips or tropical fruit salad.  Condiments, lettuce, tomato, available for all sandwiches.

We are looking throughout the year for Volunteers for our MacNider Arts Festival in June!
 
If you or your business is interested in helping out, please call 641-421-3666.
 
We have many different areas to work in:
  • Art Activities
  • Art Market
  • Food
  • Set-up
Volunteering is a great way to meet others and to get in on the fun. It is also a wonderful way for your business to get involved in the community (groups are encouraged to wear matching company t-shirts).
